About Us

Wasp started forming 22 years ago in the asbestos and HAZMAT removal industry of the late 1980’s firstly in Australia, then Europe, eventually project managing and coordinating large and prestigious industrial wet abrasive blasting contracts overseas. We believe ( as many other health and safety, blasting inspection and environmental professionals do) that wet abrasive blasting is the way of the future in blasting and these rigs continually prove themselves. On returning to Australia where dedicated wet blasting systems were virtually unknown we quickly made a name for ourselves with the top tier builders as a company that could perform the kind of work a lot of conventional surface preparation and blasting companies could not, especially in the area of large scale industrial HAZMAT, paint and chemical contamination removal and work in sensitive environments, due to the dust and waste mitigating properties of our systems and our long background in contamination containment and materials removal and management. One of our clients recently won the Master Builders Association Award for Innovation in Health and Safety for using our wet blast systems and crew to remove 24,000 m2 of lead paint. We like it when things like that happen. Check out some of our testimonials from valued clients.

But we don’t just wet blast…
We do all kinds of surface preparation and coatings application, if you have a surface that needs to be profiled, cleaned or prepared we will find a way to do it if we don’t already. We also do commercial and domestic conventional blasting with garnet, glass bead, soda , plastic, if the situation calls for it and environmental conditions allow. We also do concrete steel shot profiling and grinding, hot and cold high and low pressure water blasting and floor cleaning, scabbling and needle gun descaling, chemical paint stripping for heritage, tuck pointing and delicate substrates, line marking removal, and specialized coatings by professional applicators with Quality Assured inspectors and testers. And the list goes on.

But one more thing…
Good planets are hard to find, and we like the planet we live on, we want it to be there for the next generations of little surface preparers. Abrasive blasting can be a very environmentally intrusive process if not done with as much respect as is practical, especially when blasting hazardous materials like paint, that is why we prefer to use wet blasting systems when practical because they massively reduce dust and use around ½ the amount of blasting material that ends up being landfill. We endeavor to be environmentally aware and limit, reduce and recycle as much as possible and carry out ongoing environmental testing, and monitoring of our processes and employees to make sure. The Wasp boys ( and their kids ) have all started taking time out from work to plant trees to revegetate areas that need it and boost weak natural habitats to try in some small way to give a bit back of what we take everyday for granted. We like and support Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature and lately the Victorian Mobile Landcare Group. Thanks for reading about us!
